I have struggled all my life for control. I wanted control over the finances, the world, my children, my spouse, pretty much everything in life. It was not until I learned that when we try to “control” the world around us, people, situations, etc., we are tying the Lord’s hands, and He is not able to move freely. We cannot expect blessings or spiritual growth when we are merely pushing it or trying to control it. It wasn’t until I hit my knees and said, “Take it, Lord, take it. I cannot do this anymore without you. I need you to show me and guide me. Walk with me, Lord, help me.” Then I started to see changes around me. Changes started taking place around me, changes in my job, marriage, children, and the people and events in my life.
Did you know that when you want to “control” something, you are mainly showing that you don’t believe that God can and will do something? He will move in your situation, in your life, if you have faith. Have faith that he will help you, bless you, lead you to where you need to be financially, spiritually, in your marriage, in your life. Pray to Him and give it to Him. Then sit back and wait. It is all in God’s timing.
Mark 6:5-6 The Message (MSG)
4-6 Jesus told them, “A prophet has little honor in his hometown, among his relatives, on the streets he played in as a child.” Jesus wasn’t able to do much of anything there—he laid hands on a few sick people and healed them, that’s all. He couldn’t get over their stubbornness. He left and made a circuit of the other villages, teaching.
